Story 5: Youth Mentorship Initiative

In an urban area with limited resources for youth mentorship, a group of dedicated individuals created a Youth Mentorship Initiative through Timebanking. Adults with diverse skills and experiences volunteered to mentor young people in various areas, such as academic support, career guidance, and life skills.

As mentors spent time supporting and empowering the youth, they earned time credits that they could use to receive assistance from others, such as resume building, technology training, or professional development.

The Youth Mentorship Initiative helped young people develop valuable skills and instilled a sense of belonging and support within the community. The youth felt heard, understood, and guided, while the mentors found fulfillment in positively impacting the next generation. This mutual exchange of knowledge and support strengthened the community’s fabric, creating a nurturing environment for the youth to thrive.
